The UMO 7th International Cartoon Contest’11 is organized by UMO towards the World Usability Day. Participation is open to all cartoonists from every country in the world.  
All the awarded and qualified cartoons will be exhibited. There is no Entry fee.
Please go through the rules and regulations - and in particular - the conditions applicable to the intellectual property rights.
Theme for the Competition
Design Education for a Social Change

Education plays a vital role in the development of an active citizenry of a nation. A well educated population is able to take charge of the many issues facing society, including social problems and political decisions, rather than sitting by the sidelines and allowing someone else to do deciding for them.

Social change can be both positive or negative. History is filled with many revolutionary examples that has given us the world we live in today. Even today our educated societies are waging battles all over the world, be it in India against corruption or in the Middle East against governance or else where for a positive change.

The goal of education should simply be to provide opportunity for a student to look at the world through eyes and mind that do not merely accept status quo, but rather see the world as a place that can be changed by its citizens.

UMO's only agenda ever since its formation has been 'Good Design for Better Living'. But more importantly the route we have taken to accomplish this is by educating every one concerned about design through various initiatives. We always believed that spreading awareness is the best form of education. Programs like 'Boycott Bad Designs' has been the most participated and appreciated initiatives of UMO.

What makes it even more special is that 2011's World Usability Day theme is 'Design Education for a Social Change'.

Design in essence is a message, it is a medium through which designers and businesses communicate how a new product and service will make our lives both easier and exciting. We the design community should take the ownership of educating the users and consumers of products and services through better design. So much so that peripherals like communication design and information design around these products and services gets quite crucial in informing and educating users about them.

We welcome all enthusiasts of UMO to participate in our 7th year celebrations by spreading the spirit of good design even more strongly.
UMO encourages all enthusiasts to come up with humorous instances around consequences of wrong, irrelevant, misleading and insensitive information design. Your cartoons may reflect situations and incidences around information design we encounter in day to day business ranging from a piece of ticket (any ticket), forms/e-forms to labels & product packaging, medicine packaging/ labels, product manuals, movie posters, government notices, new papers, magazines, information systems, maps, signage, webpages and many others.
Awards and Acknowledgements
A jury will select the top 6 winning entries, the cartoonists will be granted a cash prize award of
•        First prize Rs.25,000/- (Rs. Twenty five thousand only)
•        Two second prizes of Rs. 10,000/- (Rs. Ten thousand only) each
•        Three Third prizes Rs. 5,000/- (Rs. Five thousand only) each, and,
•        Five Special mention awards
An exhibition of the winning and short listed entries will be held and UMO will publish an exhaustive works report.
The Jury and the Judgment criteria
For Judgment jury will use criteria such as creativity, humor, visual communication, presentation, persuasiveness, originality, cleverness, relevance of content and execution to identify the winner.

   9月上旬，第16届阿根廷幽默画报国际漫画大赛揭晓，贾锐军获得黑白漫画提名奖第6名，李海军和Tawan Chuntra分别获得彩色漫画提名奖第2和第3名，Tawan Chuntra获得数字漫画提名奖第1名，尹成伟获得插图类2等奖（共6个类别，每个类别获奖10名左右）。

张卫于9月7日收到世界奖金最高的国际漫画大赛——葡萄牙世界新闻刊发国际漫画大赛组委会电子邮件通知：画册通过快递寄来。下面英文是她们发来的电子邮件。这个大赛不但是目前奖金最高，而且画册也是最好的！除了给每个入选者发电子邮件通过外，还有盖钢印的证书和入选通知书、两支笔、一本画册以及下次征稿通知，另给刊发新闻出版单位一套。这是目前没有一个国际漫画大赛做到这么周到的。特别是像号称奥斯卡国际漫画大赛的土耳其艾丁道昂国际漫画大赛等影响的大赛都被曝光大奖作品有雷同、抄袭的，唯独葡萄牙世界新闻刊发国际漫画大赛没有。

1. PRESENTATION
The Dino Lounge Mood of the North Coast is a joint initiative of the illustrators Osvaldo Barbosa and Alexandre DaCosta along with designer Marcia Okida, open to all caricaturists, cartoonists, designers and graphic artists in the country with the purpose of disseminating the graphic humor and work of graphic artists in the country and region. International artists may also participate, but will be out of the award, part of a specific show.


2. CATEGORIES

Khartoum: joke graphical timeless and universal theme.
Charge: graphic and humorous critique of a political and / or social today.
Caricature: graphical representation funny anatomic distortions of known personalities.
Strips and Hq: graphic humor in short sequence of pictures similar to those published in newspapers.
Student Category - "Humor Silver House" only for students who can enroll UNISANTA work within each category mentioned above.
International work - do not compete for awards, it's just a showcase of the best works selected by international registered and curator.


3. SPECIFICATIONS OF WORK

Entries must meet the following technical requirements:
• Shape and size: A4 (210mm x 297mm), horizontal or vertical resolution: 300dpi, JPG image type, with average quality 7, black and white or color.
• Only one image should be sent in each e-mail and should not exceed 3 Mb
• Maximum of two works by the author - can be 2 (two) in the same category or into different categories.
• With each work, the participant must send the filled registration form and a brief resume.
• Entries must be submitted along with the above information solely for: salaodinodehumor@uol.com.br



4. CHOICE, AWARDS AND JUDGEMENT

IV In the Mood Lounge DINO Litoral Paulista, the organization reserves the right to limit exposure to a grand total of 60 works. There will be 10 in each category for the final exposure.
All selected works will also be displayed on the page of the show - http://cursos.unisanta.br/producaomultimidia/dino - and social networking page of the Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sal% C3% A3o-Dino-de-Humor-do-Litoral-Paulista/274237895921638. The selection will be made by a jury of artists and teachers, who will select the works that will be part of the show and the top three in each category. The jury also will choose the three best papers presented in the hall and will receive cash prizes are:

WINNERS OF THE GRAND PRIX OF HUMOR 2011 DINO - compete all work together regardless of category.
1st place: $ 1,000.00 + trophy and award certificate
2nd place: $ 500.00 + trophy and award certificate
3rd place: $ 300.00 + trophy and award certificate

1st PLACE WINNERS IN EACH CATEGORY: $ 300.00 + certificate awards

BEST JOB IN THE POPULAR VOTE: During the show, visitors will vote and choose the best job in the Popular Vote category will receive a certificate of award. The vote in the category of Popular Jury will be open throughout the period of exposure (date yet to be closed). The 2nd and 3rd places in the popular vote also receive the award certificate. The Popular Vote will happen on our Facebook page and work with the most votes will be announced as the winner of the popular social network and receive a corresponding certificate.
The works selected as 2nd and 3rd places in each category will receive certificates of award.
All selected works will receive certificates of participation that will be sent digitally to your e-mail addresses.
Within the Category Student - "Humor Prata da Casa", the same jury chooses the three best works of students UNISANTA, they will receive, in addition to the certificate of participation and prizes, discounts on a monthly fee, and 1st place: 50% • 2nd place : 40% • 3rd place: 30%
All participants will be notified by email that their works were selected. Cash prizes for each category and certificates of award, the above will be delivered at the opening of the Hall during the chat with our guest of 2011 (date yet to be closed)
The third work by the top rated shows of the jury will be announced at the end of the Hall
All selected works will be part of our printed catalog of the IV Lounge Dino Humor, which will be edited for this first show of 2011.
Soon after the inscription, each artist will be part of our mailing list and be advised of the final dates of exposure and chat with guests.


5. FINAL REMARKS

• Each author is responsible for his own creation. Soon, the copyright on any text and images owned by their respective authors.
• The show is not responsible for any emails not received, or sent to work outside the specifications mentioned in this Regulation.
• Once the job is received an email from the organization of the receipt and registration confirmation is sent within 2 days. If the artist does not receive this confirmation please contact us again.
• The organizers have the right to express views on the work, and publish the catalog, or in any printed materials related to the virtual show.
• No work will be returned. By submitting their works, the authors agree to assign the material to the collection of the Exhibition of Graphic Humor Atlantic Coast.
• Participation in the event implies acceptance of all rules mentioned above.

Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee (born Lee Jun-fan; 27 November 1940 - 20 July 1973) was a Chinese American,Hong Kong actor, martial arts instructor, philosopher, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and founder of the Jeet Kune Do martial arts movement. He is widely considered by many commentators, critics, media and other martial artists to be the most influential martial artist, and a cultural icon.

Lee was born in San Francisco to parents of Hong Kong heritage but was raised in Hong Kong until his late teens. Lee emigrated to the United States at the age of 18 to claim his U.S. citizenship and receive his higher education. It was during this time that he began teaching martial arts, which soon led to film and television roles.

His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and sparked a major surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in Hong Kong and the rest of the world, as well. He is noted for his roles in five feature-length films: Lo Wei's The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972); Way of the Dragon (1972), directed and written by Lee; Warner Brothers' Enter the Dragon (1973), directed by Robert Clouse; and The Game of Death (1978), directed by Robert Clouse.

Lee became an iconic figure known throughout the world, particularly among the Chinese, as he portrayed Chinese nationalism in his films. He initially trained in Wing Chun, but he later rejected well-defined martial art styles, favouring instead to utilise useful techniques from various sources in the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy, which he dubbed Jeet Kune Do (The Way of the Intercepting Fist).

Topic 2011: Ideal and idealism
Competition terms:
1. Each author can send maximum 5 original works.
2. The competition is open to everybody and it is not restricted in terms of artistic design methods.
3. The format of works should not exceed the A4 dimension.
4. The competition is non-anonymous. Each work should be signed on the reverse with the author´s name and full address. Electronic application form needs to be filled in when sending by email.
5. The awarded works will become the property of the organisers.
The exhibition of the works and the announcement of the results will take place in December 2011. The most successful authors will be awarded by the jury as follows:

3rd prize 100.00 EUR
