4th International Tourism Cartoon Competition
International Tourism Cartoon Competition is held with the cooperation of Anadolu University Research Center for Caricature Art, Association of Tourism Writers and Journalists (TUYED) and Anatolia: A Journal of Tourism Research. The objective of the competition, which was first held in 2009, is to examine tourism, which is one of the biggest sectors in the world, with its various dimensions. Also, the competition aims to put forward cartoonists’ aspects in terms of travelling population’s experiences and relations during their travel. In this respect, the main objective of this competition is to assess such topics, developments and experiences within the tourism industry as accomodation, transportation, food and beverage, recreation, sightseeing, museums, envirenment, tourist-resident relationships, from cartoonists’ point of view.
Competition is held annually and is open to all cartoonists from all over the world, both amateur and professional. Nearly 100 submitted works which get to the final elimination take place in the Cartoon Book and the reward ceremony of the competition will be held in İstanbul.

Hello cartoonist friends,

I have been given the opportunity to curate another exhibition and accompanying book.  I would love
it if you would send in cartoons for consideration. It is being organized by Women Deliver, a well
respected non-profit organization that works to help women and girls around the world.  Each artist
will have one cartoon in the exhibit, will be in the book, and will have a photo, bio with website with
their drawing. More about the organization is attached and below.

This will happen at Women Deliver's annual conference, this year in Malaysia. They expect 5,000
attendees, leaders and activists, from around the world to the conference in May 2013. The cartoons
will also be in a slide show at the conference, and I will do an article on the web about your work in
the show. So your work will be seen by a lot of people, and is for a good cause.
You will receive a copy of the book.

SUBJECT:

call for action to improve the health and well-being of girls and women.
We work globally to generate political commitment and resource investments to reduce maternal
mortality and achieve universal access to reproductive health. Women Deliver builds on

skills of young advocates in developing countries through our workshops and online community.
Background on Cartoon Exhibit
Around the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo, Egypt,
Inter Press Service’s TerraViva circulated cartoons illustrating women’s health and population issues,
including sexual and reproductive rights. This helped shed light on the serious issues being discussed
at the conference and challenged audiences to think about them in new ways. Earlier this year,
Doonesbury drew public attention to the reproductive health and rights battles in the U.S. through
comics, demonstrating the continued power of this type of medium.
Given the success of these campaigns, Women Deliver will compile cartoons for a collection that will
use humor, irony and creativity to put a spotlight on women’s health, empowerment and
reproductive rights.
Proposed Format
We propose conducting outreach to top political cartoonists interested in the health and well-being
of girls and women.  Cartoons will be spotlighted three ways:
·         In a physical exhibit at the conference
·         In a video presentation shown throughout the conference
·         In a paperback book

DON QUICHOTTE “SEHR-I ISTANBUL“ ULUSLARARASI KARIKATÜR SERGISI 2013

Istanbul, yerlesim tarihi 300 bin, kentsel tarihi yaklasik 3 bin, baskentlik tarihi ise 1600 yila kadar uzanan Avrupa ile Asya kitalarinin kesistigi bir dünya kentidir. Çaglar boyunca çesitli uygarlik ve kültürlere ev sahipligi yapti. Yüzyillar boyu çesitli din, dil ve irktan insanlarin bir arada yasadigi kozmopolit ve metropolit yapisiyla dünyanin turistik açidan ilgi çeken önemli merkezlerinden biri olmayi basardi. Roma ve Bizans uygarliklarina ev sahipligi yapan Istanbul, 1453 yilinda Fatih Sultan Mehmet tarafindan Bizanslilardan alinarak, Osmanli dönemine de damgasini vurdu. Tarihi alanlari UNESCO Dünya Mirasi Listesi'ne 1985 yilinda eklenen Istanbul, 2010 yilinda “Avrupa Kültür Baskenti” seçildi.

DON QUICHOTTE “CITY OF ISTANBUL” INTERNATIONAL CARTOON EXHIBITION 2013

Istanbul is the intersecting point of Europe and Asia, with a settlement history of three hundred thousand years, an urban history of three thousand years and a capital dating back to the 1600s. Istanbul has been a home to various civilizations and cultures thorughout history. Due to Istanbul’s historical cosmopolitan and metropolitan structure it has attracted people with various religions, languages and races for centuries. It has now become one of the major touristic centers in the world. Istanbul hosted the Roman and Byzantinian Empires until Fatih Sultan Mehmet captured Istanbul from the Byzatines in 1453, which marked the rise of the Ottoman period. Historical areas of Istanbul were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985 and Istanbul was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2010.

THE RULES OF EXHIBITION:

1) You can only participate in this exhibition by submitting your work through the e-mail address provided below: sehriistanbul@donquichotte.org
2) The designs are to be drawn in A3-Size to be delivered in 300 dpi and in JPEG format.
3) The closing date of the exhibition is December 31, 2013.
4) Will be given for the top ten cartoon "Don Quichotte" medal.

Gabrovo 2013
Hereby the Museum HOUSE OF HUMOUR AND SATIRE in Gabrovo, Bulgaria kindly
invites you to enter for the 21st International Biennial of Humour and
Satire in the Arts (IBHSA) which will open on 18th May, 2013. The
selected works will be on show at the Museum from 18th May until 30th
September, 2013.
Traditionally, the Biennial comprises 6 categories: cartoons, graphics &
drawings, paintings, sculpture, photographs and posters. This year the
organizers have ensured a total of 19 prizes to distinguish the best
contemporary works of humour and satire.
The subject matter of the 21st IBHSA is free of choice, however, some of
the special prizes are earmarked to go to works on topics of social
significance like the fight against smoking, tobacco consumption and
alcohol abuse.
The deadline for receiving entries is 1st, March, 2013. Works submitted
without a filled-in entry-form will not be considered by the
international jury.

Notice of the 5th Fadjr International Festival of Visual Arts
In the name of Creator of beauties
With the aid of the Almighty God and backed by the assistance of artists in the field of visual arts, the Directorate General of Visual Arts of the Department of Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in collaboration with the Institute for the Development of Visual Arts and the directorates general of Culture and Islamic Guidance in the provinces and with the active participation of artists, arts associations and art universities, faculties and institutes, the 5th Fadjr International Festival of Visual Arts will be held from 2nd February to 2nd March 2013 in the three fields of graphic (poster), photography and cartoon.
Festival's objectives:
Honoring the spiritual, religious, Islamic, Iranian and traditional art.
Theoretical identification of the values of the exalted art of the Islamic Revolution.
Providing the showcase for artistic creativity and conveying the messages of artists.
Identifying the contemporary artists active in the arena of Islamic Revolution.
Improving interactions between contemporary Iranian artist and their international counterparts, particularly artists from the Islamic world.
Accessing and introducing the latest achievements in visual arts

· Each artist can participate in the Festival with a maximum of 5 works
· Participants in this section must submit photos of their works to the Festival's Secretariat according to regulations available on the website.
Photography section:
· Theme: Life's joys and hopes reflected in social documentary photography
· Each art can participate in the Festival with a maximum of 7 photos
· Works must not have been manipulated using computer software
· Participants in this section must submit photos of their works to the Festival's Secretariat according to regulations available on the website.
Cartoon section:
· Theme: Justice
· This section will be held in topical cartoon
· Each art can participate in the Festival with a maximum of 6 works
· Works submitted in previous festivals will be rejected
· Participants in this section must submit photos of their works to the Festival's Secretariat according to regulations available on the website.
General Terms and conditions:
· Participation in the 5th Fadjr International Festival of Visual Arts is open to all artists.
· The submitted works must have been produced from 21st March 2011 onwards and must not have been submitted to any other domestic festivals or biennials.
· Applicants should refer to the site of www.ivafestival.ir to register their names, complete the form and submit photos of their works.
· The information provided on the form and the relevant labels will be used in the publications and the exhibition. Participants must therefore ensure the accuracy of nformation provided.
· The completion of the form and the submission of works shall be construed as the acceptance of the Festival’s rules and regulations.
· All participants, whose works have been selected for the Festival, shall receive a certificate of participation.
· The organizers shall have the right to use the works for publication of the book, data bank and display in the exhibition by mentioning the name of the artist.
· Decisions on unforeseen and unannounced circumstances will be made by the Festival's Secretary General.
· All works (except photography section) must bear the artist's signature, and all the spiritual and material rights shall belong to the signatory of the work Prizes

PRESS CARTOON EUROPE (PCE)
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION 2013
1. Participation in the PCE is free of charge.
2. The cartoons which you will submit must all have appeared in the course of 2012 in a newspaper, magazine or periodical which is available to the general public, and published in one of the European countries.
3. Each cartoon participating in the PCE must be accompanied by the name and date of the publication in which it originally appeared.
4. Each cartoon participating in the PCE must be accompanied by the author's personal details: family name, first name, full postal address, and telephone numbers, email address, website (if any).
5. Your cartoons, up to a maximum of three, must reach us by Monday 31th December 2012 at the latest.
6. Only cartoons uploaded on the website http://auteurs.presscartoon.com can participate in Press Cartoon Europe.
7. All texts and captions in a language other than French, English, German or Dutch must be translated into one of these four languages.
8. The selection committee of PCE will nominate 50 cartoons chosen from all those submitted to go forward for the PCE Grand Prix. The authors of these cartoons will be notified.
9. PCE will be authorized to exhibit all nominated cartoons at the International Cartoon Festival at Knokke-Heist on the Belgian coast during the summer of 2013, and also to publish them in the annual of best European press drawings of 2012.
10. PCE will be able to make free use of all the nominated cartoons for any publications or communications in connection with the prize, including press releases, posters, announcements of events organized by PCE such as exhibitions, symposia, etc.
11. The jury, composed of journalists from several European countries, will meet on Thursday 31th January 2013 in Brussels, and will select the winning entry to be awarded the PCE Grand Prix 2013, as well as a second and a third prize. The names of the winners will be announced the same day.
12. The author of the Grand Prix will receive a cheque for 8.000 € as well as a bronze trophy created by the Belgian artist Ever Meulen. The second and the third prize receive 1.000 € each.
13. The prizes will be awarded during the opening ceremony of the International Cartoon Festival at Knokke-Heist in July 2013.
