International Cartoon Exhibition – Exploitation and workers’ rights, a critical look through a humoristic Line!

At a moment like this, in which, with the excuse of the actual economic crisis, the exploitation and the assault to the rights of the workers, in order to pursue with the accumulation of scandalous  profits by economic groups, the Portuguese Communist Party challenged Humorgrafe to collaborate in some journeys of reflection with the participation of cartoonists from all around the world and from different political and ideological choices to, from their own philosophical and humoristic thoughts, contribute to this initiative - Exploitation and workers’ rights through a humoristic line, with their artistic works about the important questions that at this moment, affect millions of Portuguese and worldwide workers: the unemployment, the low wages and the precarious job.

a) The P C P, in collaboration with Humorgrafe prepares a journey of enlightenment about the rights of workers. The struggle for the dignity of labour, the exploitation of millions of human beings and the outrageous profits of big business, increasing unemployment and social trail of destruction, the struggle of workers as a factor of rupture and change the life of the population, are elements compelling when we look at the world in which we live.   
We invite cartoonists from around the world to meditate on various topics within this area include: job insecurity as a factor in the return to a past without rights, low wages versus paying a fortune for managers and scandalous profits, unemployment and its trail of poverty, destruction wealth and productive capacity.
b) Each artist can participate up to 4 entries, in black and white (one colour) sent by e-mail (300 dpis - jpeg) to humorgrafe_oms@yahoo.com . Sending work to the exhibition requires the waiver of copyright for publications (with no lucrative aims) of these journeys.
c) The deadline is February 26th 2010, and the exhibition opened next March 18th, in Lisbon. Eventually the exhibition will be displayed in other locations
d) The work will be selected by jury for the exhibition catalogue and other publications involved in this event - Exploration and workers' rights by the stroke of humor. The campaign held it during the years 2010 / 2011 Selected works may be used by prosecutors in this period of this initiative. All artists will be notified and will receive two copies of all publications (on paper) where they used their work.

FASI International Graphics, Satire, and Humor Contest - Italy
Regulations

FASI, the Federation Association of Sardinians in Italy, invites all the cartoonists in the world to participate in the special edition of the contest "Graphics, satire, and humor" created to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Unity of Italy.
1. The contest is open to all cartoonists, illustrators, and graphic designers around the world. You are also allowed to participate without competing. Such requests exempt the author from winning a prize, but makes it possible to still publish and/or display the author's work.
2. Theme: FRATELLI D'ITALIA
From the kingdom of Sardinia to the kingdom of Italy. From the Italian republic to the European Union. From Europe to the United Nations. Independence and globalization. One hundred and fifty years of events, action, heroes and influential people either in Italy or the European Union.
Foreign artists may express themselves on the following subjects:  the fortunes of the ideals of the 20th century, on the condition of democracy achieved in their own country, on the respect observed towards human rights and peace,  on the destiny of the concept of the State and national unity in times of globalization, or rather they can tell about their country's perception of Italy.
In the age of globalization try to express:
- The capacity to evoke concepts of unity and national identity, independence, liberty, and the state. Philosophers, politicians, and poets of the Italian rebirth (Risorgimento Italiano) and to retell the most important moments and the influential people that characterize the first 150 years of Italian history.
- The current condition of democracy, humanitarian works, and peace.
- The future of the state, of the state in times of globalization and fortunes of the current ideals of the '900.
3. Sections
The contest is divided into three categories:
A) Sardegna. This is dedicated to the artists that with any graphic technique, satire, caricature, or cartoon strip that brings to mind the actions and the Sards that, originating from the kingdom of Sardegna, were creators of the kingdom of Italy and of the Italian Republic.
B) Illustrations. Graphics, lithography, web art, computer art
C) Satire and Humour. Cartoons, strips, caricatures
It is permitted to submit an entry for each of the three categories.
4. Prizes
Total money prizes amounting: 25.000 €uro
- Prize "Sardegna": 1st prize 5.000 €uro - 2nd prize 1.500 €uro
- Prize "Illustrations": 1st prize 5.000 €uro - 2nd prize 1.500 €uro
- Prize "Satire and Humour": 1st prize 5.000 €uro - 2nd prize 1.500 €uro
The prizes are offered by: Presidenza Consiglio della Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, Presidenza Consiglio della Regione Lazio, Presidenza della Regione Toscana, Presidenza Consiglio della Regione Piemonte
- Prize "Black Sheep": 3.000 €uro from the Comune di Burgos
- Prize "Inside the history": 1.000 €uro from the Fondazione Giuseppe Siotto, Cagliari
- Prize "The see us like this": 1.500 €uro from the ACLI Sardegna
There will be 10 "Special Mentions"
Other special prizes may be offered from various institutional sponsors, private interests, associations, newspapers and agencies.
5. Participation
A maximum of three works for each section may be submitted with any technique and any supported paper or canvas of the same dimension. The submitted works must be originals, and must arrive with the application form and the biography of the author. Each work must be signed and must have on the back the following information: the title of the work, the author's name, last name, address, phone number, and email address. The author must indicate on each work into which section it is to be entered.

7. Format
UNI A4 (21 x 29,7 cm) otherwise UNI A3 (29,7 x 42 cm)
8. Technique
Free. The works can be created even with digital techniques as long as they can be printed in high quality, the signature must be by hand, and come with a CD that contains the digital file of the work in the format TIFF with the resolution of 300 dpi.
9. Jury
The acceptance of the works, the selection, and the assigning of the prizes are completely up to the jury nominated by the FASI.
The jury is composed of: Gavino Sanna - President, Giuliano Rossetti, Tonino Mulas, Luca Paulesu, Giovanni Sorcinelli 'Gi髕', Bepi Vigna
Bruno Culeddu: Secretary without the ability to vote.
The decisions of the jury are non debatable or up for appeal.
The results of the jury will be given directly to the winning artists and published on the website of the Burgosatira, of the FASI and of FanoFunny.com
10. Exhibitions
In 2011 (the anniversary of the Proclamation of the Unity of Italy), dates listed below, the works will be exhibited in Torino, Firenze, Roma, Cagliari and Burgos.
The works will be consigned to the Museum of the Satire of Burgos, for a permanent exhibit.
From Burgos will begin a touring exhibit throughout the various communities of Sardegna and all of Italy. This touring exhibit will also go abroad and be under the care of ACLI Sardegna and move throughout the Sardinian club worldwide.
The inauguration ceremony and the awards ceremony will be held in Torino, which was the original capital of Italy.
11. Catalogue
All the authors selected for the catalogue will receive a free copy of said catalogue.
12. Ownership and rights
The Organization reserves all rights to reproduce and distribute the works in any form and to organize exhibitions with selected works in any location in Italy or abroad, citing the author, without any payment. All the works submitted will not be returned and will remain the property of the Comune of Burgos where they will be exhibited and cared for by the Museo della Satira.
The participation in the contest implies that complete acceptance from the part of the author to all the conditions and rules herein stated and implied.

1- THE TOPIC
Planet Earth. This is the name of our home. Water accounts for almost 70% of our planet's surface. However, the planet's name shows how important Earth's crust is for our living.

World population increases each day, and so does pollution and deforestation. We deforest for crops, we deforest for the construction of urban areas, we deforest
for everything the expansion of civilization, industrial development, and globalization stimulates us to produce, and we don't realize this deforestation leads to our soil impoverishment.

We produce tons of waste and chemicals which are discarded inappropriately on our soil. That's the same soil where we find our potable water, where our crops  yield. The very soil on which thousands of beings live, including mankind. By polluting and deforesting the lands, we are slowly killing ourselves.
With so many problems related to the environment, new alternatives must be devised so that our ecosystem and biodiversity will sustain for future generations.

The 3rd International Patio Brasil Environmental Humor Show Ecocartoon seeks to raise people's awareness creating citizens capable of acting in favor of Planet
Earth. How about you, what can you do for the soil conservation?

2- 3rd P罷IO BRASIL INTERNATIONAL SHOWROOM ON ENVIRONMENTAL HUMOR ECOCARTOON
This is a competitive exhibit consisting of humorous cartoons whose objective is to promote thought on this topic and other, more specific aspects. Allowed pieces are Charges (satirical illustrations), Cartoons, Caricatures and Humor Strips about the topic of soil conservation.

3- CONTESTANTS
a) Participants can be graphic artists in general, amateurs or professionals, of Brazilian or foreign nationalities;
b) Each artist may contribute a total of 2 (two) original, unpublished pieces. The categories Charges (satirical illustrations), Cartoons, Caricatures and Humor Strips will compete with one another;
c) Any artist participating in this contest is aware that he or she is the sole person responsible for the genuine nature of the submission as his or her own work, and will be held legally and criminally responsible in cases the piece is proven to be false or someone else's, either during or after the contest.
d) People directly involved with event processes are barred from participating in this campaign.

4- ENROLLMENT
a) Enrollment forms are available at www.ecocartoon.com.br;
b) Enrollment can be done either at the event website or by regular (snail) mail.
c) Only 1 (one) enrollment form will be accepted from each participant.
d) The organizers are not responsible enrollment forms not received as a result of computer technical issues, net congestion, failure in communication lines,
mishandled correspondence, Post Office strikes, as well as any other factor that may hinder a successful enrollment.
e) Enrollment will be made official through a confirmation e-mail.
f) By enrolling, participants agree to all the terms of this set of regulations, and agree to defer to the organizers the choice of winners and the destination and use of
the artwork.

4.1 ENROLLMENT VIA WEBSITE
a) Pieces shall be sent in A3 format (297mm x 420mm), in landscape of portrait mode;
b) Cartoonists wishing to participate with 2 (two) pieces must send both attached at the same time;
c) The organizers are not responsible enrollment forms not received as a result of computer technical issues, net congestion, failure in communication lines, as well
as any other factor that may hinder a successful enrollment via website.

4.2 - ENROLLMENT VIA REGULAR (POST OFFICE) MAIL
a) Pieces shall be sent in A3 format (297mm x 420mm), in landscape of portrait mode;
b) The pieces must be sent together with the enrollment for filled out at the post office or handed directly to the Patio Brasil Shopping administration, between
Monday and Saturday, 10am 7pm, at the following address: SCS Qd. 07 Bl. A Administra玢o - Bairro: Asa Sul; Zip Code: 70.307-902, Brasilia DF. The outside of the envelope/package should prominently display the name of the event: ECOCARTOON;
c) The pieces must be sent in appropriate packaging  the organizers will not be responsible for any shipping-related damage.
d) The organizers are not responsible for enrollment forms not received as a result of post office error, post office strikes, as well as any other factor that may hinder a
successful enrollment via website.

5- OWNERSHIP AND USE OF THE PIECES
a) ALL submitted and sent works will become the definitive possession of Condom韓io P醫io Brasil Shopping, which will hold unrestrictive and exclusive ownership rights to use the pieces as it wishes without it generating any type of compensation to the authors under any hypothesis;
b) At the conclusion of selection process, selected pieces will the exposed at P醫io Brasil and shown at www.ecocartoon.com.br. These pieces may also be shown
at or taken to other locations;
c) The organizers will not be held responsible for any damages caused by third-parties during the exhibition to the public or any deterioration resulting from handling
the piece during the event.

6- DEADLINES
a) Pieces will be accepted until April 14, 2010.
b) Piece selection will take place on May 14, 2010.
c) The exhibit will take place between June 01 and 20, 2010.

7- ASSESSMENT, SELECTION AND PRIZES
a) The following criteria will be used when selecting winning pieces: creativity, originality and pertinence to the proposed topic. Pieces will be selected by the
selection commission, whose decisions must be accepted by participants and cannot be appealed.
b) The selection commission will select, among all the pieces received, 100 (one hundred) pieces to be shown at P醫io Brasil Shopping.
c) Out of the 100 (one hundred) selected pieces, 4 (four) pieces will receive awards - 3 (three) will be selected by the organizing commission and 01 (one) piece
(aside from the three aforementioned winners) will be selected by popular vote, whose choice can also not be appealed.
d) In order to encourage new values among young cartoonists (less than 18 years of age), the jury will select a work for the award named "Young Talent" in
recognition for it's artistic potential. The awarded author will receive a trophy, have his work displayed at the exhibition and printed in the catalog of the event.
e) Any omissions relating to this set of regulations will be duly settled by the selection commission, though a P醫io Brasil Shopping referendum;

8- PRIZES
a) The authors of the selected pieces will receive the following prizes:
1st Place ................................R$ 4,000.00
2nd Place ................................R$ 2,000.00
3rd Place ................................R$ 1,500.00
Popular Vote Winner ............ R$ 750.00
b) The list of winners will be disclosed on 01/JUN/10, when the exhibit opens at 10am, and it will also be made available at the event website. Winners will be
informed of the selections via telegram and/or phone/e-mail.
c) Prizes will be delivered in up to 30 days after they are disclosed at the shopping mall's administration or via bank transfer in the case of winners residing outside of
Bras韑ia/DF.

13th International Festival of Humor Graphic - Italy - "Tattoos and T-Shirts Borderline"
Talking about the 13Th Graphic Humour International Festival we can ask each other the reason why about an itinerant exposition, that as it is notorious need an huge organization effort.

The answer is easy: the itinerant exposition can reach a wider audience: in fact every year the exposition is presented in 5 or 6 towns, while the one exposed in only one town will have an inferior number of audience. Moreover the itinerant exposition can be shown in other countries, in other nations and also can be lent to other organizers in a global level.

Our association is a non profit making and in these crises period is much harder and tiring going on with our projects, considering that we can't count on the same economic help as many other exposition.

But we always keep on going on, even facing some difficulties that often come against us, because we think that especially in this period is necessary take a look at the situation with the humorist eye.


13th ITINERANT GRAPHIC HUMOUR FESTIVAL

Tattoos and T-Shirts Borderline

1st Theme:
Tattoos/tatuaggi

Tattoo art has really ancient origin, it was practiced from Egyptian population. Tattoos signs has been found in 1991 in the man found under the ice in the Easter Alps between Italy and Austria.

The Tattoo has been reintroduced in occidental society from adventure English men guided from Captain Cook after he came back to Tahiti in 1771. For this reason tattoe was linked to the sailormen and as between them there were people that boarded to escape from law also, it was linked to delinquency too.

In the 80's, under the impulse of punk, heavy, rock cultures and other new tendencies young people start to get interested to tattoos.

2nd Theme:
T-Shirts/Magliette

The Hottest year period character, the T-shirt has become something much more than a clothing item. According to the researcher and writer Claudio Spuri, author of the essay "T-shirt stuff tattoos", nowadays is a kind of a second skin.

T-shirt, as its name properly says, is the famous T shape shirt that with the passing of years became an universal clothing item. Wonderful instrument for messages, ideas, philosophies and feelings communication, used from young people as from the adults.

This simply inducement is a mirror soul for those who wear it and it often become a real stuff tattoo that succeed in telling us, always and however, something more than his owner. T-shirt born in America in the early 40's and became a part of the U.S. Navy uniform; it spreads itself in Europe during the 2nd World war.

In 1950 Marlon Brando and James Dean wears it in their movies. Starting from the 60's many rock bands start printing their logos on T-shirts.

T-shirts printing, with the passing of years, became an economic way of communication to tell ideas, to advertise products and articles of all kinds until all this turned the T-shirt in a very popular article in dressing sector until it became a cult art product.
TATTOOS AND T-SHIRTS OVER THE BORDERLINE

Opened to all the professional cartoonist. The works must be send accompanied by an author schedule (name, address, country, photo or author's caricature)

1) The authors will have to POINT IN THE BACK of their paintings if they desire to participate inside the competition or outside of it.

B) Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Prize the special plate "Humorist Cause ". The winners classification will be published after the last exposition of the "13th International Graphic-Itinerant Humor Festival"edition 2010

5) The Festival direction will indicate the result on the festival website, entering the catalogue to download in Pdf format ( www.festivalhumourgrafico.eu )

6) The selected authors will receive one copy of the Festival catalogue at the end of the manifestation.

7) Each author is in charge of his own works' content, included the copyright of the authors themselves for what concerns titles, images and texts.

8) The Festival doesn't take any responsibilities for any possible damages during the mailing of works and for the mailing of the "Humorist Cause" prize.

9) The Festival will reserve itself the right to expose the drawings and to publish them on the catalogues or in articles concerning the Festival.

10) At the end of the Festival the works won't be given back and they'll become part of the International Graphic Humor Festival permanent museum archive and they could be used for further expositions in Italy and in other countries.

11) The Festival organization reserves the right not to display those works that may infringe collective or personal rights.

12) The Authors give the authorization to the International Itinerant Graphic Humour Festival to publish their works and to print them. The Festival reserve the right to exhibit, to store away, publish on the web and eventually in other publication shapes not mentioned here.

13) The participation to the event implies the total agree of the present regulation.

International Exhibition CarCaricature - Zagreb 2010

This year 4th International Zagreb car caricature exhibition 2010 marks the 112th anniversary of the car's first appearance in Croatia. The car was driven by Count Marko Bombelles to his home in Vinica near Varazdin.
Since those early days, in all its guises, the car has become an essential part of everyday life. "His Majesty", the car, has become so necessary for work and play that it is difficult to imagine any activity which does not involve the use of an automobile. From basic functions such as travelling to and from work, to every other type economic, sport, cultural, political, recreational, tourist, health, military, police or "romantic" pursuit. It is omnipresent, ever desirable and IRREPLACEABLE! Life without a car is unimaginable. We ask ourselves how did we manage to live without the car for thousands of years.
With message and slogan of this years exhibition:
"WITH CAR INSPECTION YOU CONTRIBUTE IN PRESERVATION OF OUR ECOLOGY"

So our focus this year as well as a theme is going to be
CAR INSPECTION AND CAR VALIDATION CHECK.
With this theme we want to interest authors from around the world to warn public of a need to preserve nature. This is a fantastic opportunity for caricaturists from all around the world to "speak up" through their drawings and show advantages and disadvantages of their majesty - the Car.
The main sponsors for this year 4th International Zagreb Car Caricature Exhibition are the City Government. They will be presenting the Grand Prix prize. Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) - Zagreb Branch will be awarding the First Place Prize. There will be two more prizes (special acknowledgment) and 7 special recognitions. The other sponsors will be revealed on the opening day.
This exhibition provides Zagreb and Croatia with an annual cultural and artistic show which is rapidly attracting international followers - with a theme instantly recognizable by all - cars in our daily work and life.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
1.    All caricaturists (and those wishing to be one) on the planet Earth have the right to participate.
2.    Each participant may submit maximum of two (2) caricatures.
3.    All caricatures must be made on either A4 or A5 paper size (but not smaller than A5 or bigger than A3).
4.  Caricatures must be submitted on paper as originals. If a caricature was made on a computer it has to be signed by the author. Photocopies and other forms of duplication will not be accepted.
5.   Selection of caricatures that will be part of the exhibition will be done by of officials appointed by the Organizer, Huna d.o.o. Zagreb.
The following awards will be presented:
GRAND PRIZE厖 4,000 Eu or 30,000 Kn
1 PRIZE厖厖.. 1,000 Eu or 7,500 Kn
2 PRIZE厖厖. 800 Eu or 5,500 Kn

In addition to monetary prizes, each winner will receive a certificate.
6. Each participant in the exhibition will be represented in the exhibition catalogue with one cartoon selected by the Organizers.
7. Every artist whose work is exhibited is entitled to a free copy of the exhibition catalogue.
8. The subject matter of the exhibition is: Our everyday car - CAR INSPECTION and CAR VALIDATION CHECK.
9. Prizes will be awarded by a committee of at least seven persons, of whom five will be sponsor representatives and two will be experts appointed the Organizers.
10. Cartoons which are awarded prizes become the property of the sponsor awarding the prize to the artist or remain the property of the Organizers.
11. Cartoons which are not awarded prizes become the property of the Organizers or, at the explicit request of the artist, can be returned (on payment of shipping costs) or may be collected from Huna d.o.o. 30 days after the exhibition.
12. All exhibited artists give the right to the Organizers to use, publish and exhibit cartoons, without compensation or payment, for the promotion of future exhibitions and projects.
13. The Organizers reserve the right to utilize cartoons with third-parties to promote the artist and the exhibition.
14. By submitting cartoons to the 4th International Car Caricature Exhibition Zagreb 2010 the artist agrees and accepts and the terms of participation.
15. Cartoons will be accepted for inclusion in the exhibition until 23rd of April 2010 at the Organizers address:
